K36 Lammschlucht Gorge, Concept for Provisional Measures

In the Lammschlucht Gorge area there have been many incidents of falling rock and blocks, landslides, mudflows. Following completion of the hazard map and risk analysis in 2006 further inspections were conducted by Keller + Lorenz AG, leading to a continuous update of the risk analysis. Based on the risk analysis, the Roads Inspectorate of Lucerne Canton would like to maintain the safety (operation) of the K36 (Lammschlucht Gorge section) for the next 15 years. The entire section was assessed, priorities were identified and safety measures determined. This involved assessing not only natural hazards but also manmade slopes, the many stone block walls at the side of the road as well as geological foundations of the various engineering structures. The safety measure works were conducted in two phases (2009/10).
