IM Engineering Eurasia supporting the development of the water and sanitation sector in Armenia

IM Engineering Eurasia as subconsultant, is partnering with GFA Consulting Group under a project financed by KfW Development Bank to assist the Government of Armenia in developing a sustainable infrastructure in the urban and rural water supply and sanitation sector.

The project comprises three phases and is targeted at introducing an optimal institutional set-up for asset management in the water sector as well as evaluating the current capacity and future requirements of the State Committee for Water Economy (SCWE), utility companies, municipalities and water users’ associations involved in the asset management process. In addition, the scope of work includes the development of an asset strategy and preparation of a roadmap for implementation.

Under the scope of work the Consultant will furthermore prepare a Water Demand Management Plan, covering a number of aspects including fair allocation of water, regulation of fees to ensure full cost recovery, recommendations to avoid conflict between different water users and measures to reduce water wastage.

IM Engineering Eurasia has provided the Team Leader, whose range of services to GFA will include project management, coordination with relevant Armenian stakeholders, institutional analysis and development, reporting and presentation of results to the Government of Armenia.

Work began in April 2018 and the project is expected to conclude in October 2019.
